The Henley Regatta begins tomorrow, kicking off six days of competitive rowing along the Thames.
The event was first held in 1839 and has been staged annually ever since, with the exception of the years affected by the two World Wars and the Covid pandemic.

Here’s what you need to know.
When is the Henley Regatta?
This year’s regatta begins on Tuesday, 28 June, running to Sunday, 3 July.
A total of 26 events will take place over the six days, and the regatta is expected to attract about 300,000 spectators.
The provisional 2022 timings for racing are:
- Tuesday 28 June – 9.30 am – 7.50 pm
- Wednesday 29 June – 9:00 am – 7:50 pm
- Thursday 30 June – 9.30 am – 7.50 pm
- Friday 1 July – 9.30 am – 7.40 pm
- Saturday 2 July – 10.00 am – 7.40 pm
- Sunday 3 July – 11.00 am – 4.30 pm

A band of showery rain will move eastwards, heavy in places, especially in the east this afternoon, with a risk of isolated thunder. Western areas turning dry with sunny spells by the afternoon.

Mostly dry with long clear spells in the south and east, allowing it to turn rather chilly. Becoming wet and windy in the northwest.
- Tuesday
A band of rain in the west, heavy in places with coastal gales, will edge slowly eastwards. Staying dry in the southeast with warm sunny spells.
- Outlook for Wednesday to Friday
Showers for many Wednesday and especially Thursday when they will be heavy with a risk of hail and thunder. Rain into the northwest Friday, drier elsewhere. Rather cool at times.
