Held on the first Sunday of each month (except January and February), Hemel Old Town Market features a wide selection of goods including locally produced baked goods, hot and cold food, craft items, preserves, artisan gifts, cards, paintings, jewellery and much more.
This popular and vibrant market regularly attracts upwards of 50 stalls, and more than 100 traders take pitches in the busiest months. Many stall holders attend monthly and have built a loyal customer base, while a steady flow of new traders ensures there is always something new to discover.
There is a great atmosphere on St Mary’s Square, with visitors enjoying music from our ever-popular resident DJ while they shop. In addition to the market, the High Street offers coffee shops, pubs, gift, sweet and vintage shops, all ready to welcome you inside to browse and buy or sit and relax for a while.
Traffic is restricted from driving along the High Street on market days, making it a safe environment for families. Dogs are welcome in all areas of the market including inside the Church and Church Hall. There is plenty of parking nearby, disabled access in all areas and toilet facilities on the Square and in the Church Hall.
The market grounds span St Mary’s Square, under the arches at the Old Town Hall, in St Mary’s Church Hall and in the beautiful grounds of St Mary’s Church. In the winter months, stalls can be found inside the church, which opens its doors to visitors at every market – feel free to pop in to soak up the atmosphere and admire the architecture.
Hemel Old Town Market welcomes enquiries from new stall holders who fit their local, artisan, handmade or homemade, small business profile. This market offers reasonable pitch fees, easy online booking and free marketing opportunities. To find out more, simply send an email to the address below.
To keep up to date with all the latest news, see more pictures and find out about other events that the market organisers run in the High Street and surrounding areas, follow the markets Facebook and Instagram accounts.
