History of Newark

Europe’s largest antiques fair, Newark is a highlight of the calendar for budding enthusiasts and collectors of antiques. It occurs six times a year with a pivotal summer event taking place in August and other events occurring in February, April, June, October and December.
The fair began in 1985 and celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2010 while in 2011 visitors to Newark had risen by 21% from 2009 with numbers gradually increasing year on year.
This means that this year, Newark will be celebrating its 30th anniversary.
How to get there?
If you are interested in visiting Newark then it’s important to know how to get here. Based in Newark & Nottinghamshire Showground, it is found adjacent to the A1 and therefore boasts strong transport links for those arriving from London which is approximately 2 hours away.
Visitors arriving by car are advised to follow signs for “International Antiques & Collectors Fair” which will be easily identified in yellow. International visitors arriving at Nottingham East Midlands Airport can reach the grounds in approximately 1 hour via taxi or bus while direct coaches operated by Able Coaches run from services from London.
Those arriving via public transport can reach the Newark Northgate rail station easily from London with a journey time of just 90 minutes. Other locations are also connected to the local station which is only a 10 minute drive from the fair.
