A frequently asked question in Cedar Rapids and the surrounding areas is “where can I host a baby or bridal shower?” A lot of people may not know about some of these Cedar Rapids baby shower spots! Some are bigger for larger events, and some are more intimate. They all fit the bill for a good place to celebrate!

Located on the bottom floor of Hiawatha City Hall – includes a full-size kitchen with tables and chairs. $275 for the whole day for Hiawatha residents. $300 for non-residents. $200-$225 for a specific time slot. No rules about food here but always check for rules about alcohol.
Both library locations are big, open spaces with tables and chairs provided for up to 50 at Ladd and 75 each at Beems auditorium (150 combined). Both have projectors and screens. Downtown has a podium with a sound, system, microphone, and kitchenette while Ladd has a sink and microwave. Downtown food must be homemade or potluck. Catering must be done through Roasters at the library or pay a $2/pp fee up to $250 to Roasters. The room rental itself is free!

Only 10 minutes from Marion- the Family Room is a cozy little spot for your event up to 40 people. It does not have a kitchen but has a refrigerator and freezer with lots of spots to plug crockpots in. 8-foot tables and chairs are provided. $150 for 6 hours on Friday-Sunday. $50 for 6-hour rentals on Monday-Thursday.
The Family Room also has a second location in Marion (143 Marion Blvd – behind McDonalds next to Thomas Park) called Toddler Play Cafe. Similar to The Family Room in Central City you will have the space to yourself and food and drinks will also be available for purchase.
Who doesn’t love Mexican for a party?! It costs right around $10 per person for a taco buffet including nonalcoholic drinks with chips and salsa. You will have a dedicated server; you can order alcoholic drinks or off the regular menu if you wish, and they will clean up! Great spot for coed showers!
This is a little away from Cedar Rapids, but still part of the corridor! For a $25 application fee and $5 fee per bag of garbage left behind, the room is 750 square feet and offers a fridge and microwave and coffee pot. It holds up to 50 people and has tables and chairs provided. Something to remember that is a good point, this venue can be rented even when the library is closed (Sundays) but you must pick up the keys during normal hours.

There are lots of options available here! Parlor City has no food minimum or room rental fee. They are open to ideas on how to best serve your party. You can do a pre-plated meal or buffet, limited or full menu or just appetizers. They have a similar set up for alcohol. This is a great spot if you’re needing a lot of flexibility.
A pricier option, but beautiful facilities. Starting at $200 for weekday evenings, Hickory Room and Red Oak Room are your best options for shower rentals. Both include access to kitchenette facilities. Both rooms hold up to about 60 people and have round tables provided. This would be perfect for a winter or evening shower or if you just want something a little classier.
The community room is a good space in a central location. It can be one big room which you can rent for $30 an hour, $75 for 3 hours or you can rent one half for $25 an hour, $60 for 3 hours. Tables and chairs are provided along with a small catering kitchen. This would be a good spot if you have lots of small kids – they can run off to play in the open gym.
If you or your guest of honor has a home church – many will let you use the basement or fellowship hall for no cost! Some may have other programs or events occurring on weekends so double check times you can get in/have to be out.
